Boy or Girl? Let's Cut the Cake!

While Eric made his way to D.C. to start the new job, I stayed back in Idaho Falls to finish mine. Our big vacation before we drove across the country was a trip to California where we would finally reunite after being away from each other for almost two months. The other big surprise for the week, we would find out if we were having a boy or a girl.

My mom had come to Idaho Falls to help me pack our little apartment to move across the country a couple weeks before and while she was there we went to the doctor to find out the sex of the baby. I didn't want to do it without Eric, so instead of finding out, we told the doctor to write it down and seal it in an envelope. My mom then took that envelope back to California and dropped it at a bakery. There they baked a cake with either pink or blue frosting on the inside depending on what we were having.

The big reunion day arrived! There were tons of people there to join us and guess, even give us name suggestions. We cut the cake and... PINK! We're having a girl!
